JUCY J&B Met

In full colour, horse-racing fanatics, betters and socialites filled the Kenilworth race course for the annual J & B Met in the beautiful city of Cape Town.  The energy in the air livened up as I made my way across the grass from the grand stands to the hospitality village where South Africa’s glamorous filled the many marquees.  The wind was rather unkind and had the ladies pulling quick reflexes to keep dresses down and hats up, thanks to RJK creations (who also dressed Noleen Maholwana  Sangqu, Farah Fortune and the phly one Penny Lebeyane) my body hugging dress saved me the trouble, which left me with the single task of keeping my hair in check.
There were very few celebs I didn’t spot, I felt like my childhood fantasy of climbing through the television had finally come true.  Spotted DJ Sbu (who according to his tweet was wearing a Tom Ford suit and claimed not to bragging) posing for pics as I began my quest for the Equus Lounge marquee.  The main J & B marquee was the place to be, unfortunately if you didn’t have the right accreditation, you simply would not enter as Ms Khanyi Mbau soon learned.

While Lucia Mthiyane and Lerato Moloisane entertained guests at the Carducci marquee, kleptomaniacs had a field day in the J & B marquee as Kuli Robert’s cellphone was stolen, shocking!(because I simply cannot imagine how the financially destitute could have made the guest list).  Despite the misdemeanor,  HHP rocked the marquee with a killer performance and  Gareth Cliff, Ryan Botha, Lady (Nazreen), Princess Diana's niece Kitty Spencer and other fortunate guests  where spoiled to delicious food, drinks, massages and L’Oreal make-up touch ups. A good source confirmed everyone’s drunken state, due to my absence, I cannot swear to it. While all this was happening, I was battling to keep myself from getting blown away while I waited for my tag.

Took a glimpse of the Equus lounge which seems to have hosted the more mature crowd, you know, the likes of Sophie Ndaba and Zizi Kodwa who is going to have his hands full with the president making front page news for the not so right reasons – again! Uyanda Mbuli made an appearance in the tent.
Needless to say, my tag never made it around my wrist, I shall spare the name of the person who did me wrong (strike 1!) and before my patience ran out I’d seen everyone that was to be seen including a rather slim looking Zam Nkosi and his gorgeous fuller figured wife Khensani – I cant imagine the two are on the same diet – Im just saying… Comical David Kau paraded his gorgeous wife Thalia, while Lira tugged her stylist Nthato Mashishi around and so models, artists, actors, politicians, socialites, corporate types , posers and randoms alike all seemed to enjoy the Met ambience. In the fear of appearing as a gate crasher, I eventually decided to retreat between the white sheets of my hotel bed.  Yes, my heart was broken as I imagine I missed out on a whole lot of juice. Note to self:  Network with relevant, well-connected and most importantly, reliable people. And oh, when it's time to go home, go home :
