Ugandan star Bebe Cool shot

Ugandan superstar artist Bebe Cool was recently shot a number of times in the thigh by police officers in the country's capital, Kampala. After wrapping up his supporting act at the R. Kelly concert, the artist apparently headed to another popular hangout spot to kick it and was accompanied by his bodyguards.
Concrete details of what actually occured are a little sparse, but there are two conflicting stories: the first is by the police, who say that they were trying to arrest an unidentified couple doing the dang thing in their car. Bebe Cool, whose government name is Moses Ssali, some how became involved in an ensuing scuffle and got himself shot by the cops several times. One of the "bodyguards" that was shot in the scuffle is actually a member of the police.
Bebe Cool's side of the story is that when they got to the spot to hang out, there was some kind of misunderstanding with Weasel and Radio-two artists that he doesn't quite get along with. The following paragraph from Uganda's New Vision Online tells the wounded artist's side;
“After leaving Effendy’s, we walked to Nakumatt (a supermarket) to buy some items. A policeman escorted us. He is the one who was shot along with me and my friends,”. The Inspector General of the Police later visited Kobobyo, one of the wounded bodyguards admitted in the same hospital, who told him policemen at Nakumatt asked them to identify themselves. “Bebe Cool identified himself and said almost all policemen knew him. However, one of them was not satisfied. Despite Bebe Cool’s pleas, he stepped backwards before the shooting.”
We'll have to wait to see the outcome, but right now, one of the policemen that shot him are in custody and Bebe Cool has reportedly said that he will be taking a legal route to get his own back.
Another Ugandan publication The Observer, quoted Bobi Wine, another Ugandan artist, on the incident:
“Police have turned into a shoot-to-kill force; that is why a senior citizen like Bebe can be shot by a Police officer trained to protect people and the entire Police fail to give an explanation to the country and the artistes’ fraternity. We are calling a press conference tomorrow (Wednesday) at the hospital to give our stand,” said Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool have had quite a stormy relationship in the past, exchanging diss records and all that other stuff that goes with the concept of "beef".
