Musician Molemo Maarohanye and Themba Tshabalala have been granted bailed of R10 000 each by the Protea Magistrate's Court. Lets have a quick jucy lesson on what this means:
1: None of the merits of the case have been decided on. This means that the court is not saying the men are not guilty.
2: This means that after paying the R10 000 bail, they will go home and wait for their trial to begin. If they had not made bail, they would have had to wait for their trial in jail.
3: People are granted bail if they are not seen to be a flight risk. In this case, The Sowetan is reporting that his passport was confiscated.
If he does anything to violate his bail conditions (like leave the country) he will be arrested and most probably denied bail in the future
4: The trial will decide if the men get prosecuted on the 4 counts of murder that they are accused of.
5: The trial (which will decide whether he is guilty or innocent) will start on the 7th of April.
Jub Jub has pleaded not guilty to murder, denied that their were intoxicants in his system and denied that he was drag racing. According to reports he appeared distressed in court, spoke about God and his pregnant partner and baby on the way that he wanted to be with at home.
Protesters have been outside the court baying for his blood. They seem to be led by the Congress of South African Students who encouraged their members to miss school to protest outside the court. They have overthrown dustbins, tried to steal chicken (it makes me so sad to write that. *smh*) They promised that if the accused were granted bail they would make Johannesburg "ungovernable". Protesters have also attacked and looted Maarohanye's father's shop.
*sigh* We need to better as a people.

Honestly how is stealing food going to make a difference, this is amateur behavior. But I suspect that Molemo will be let off lightly in this case, whatch this space*
these children must go to school and stop being rebels!! what kind of sick behaviour is this?? stealling chicken. what is this saying about our country right before the worldcup? the justice system will deal nwith it even if its not far but God knows what really happend and will see them.
Whats wrong with us black people? always looking for an excuse to be rowdy and strike, those children should be in school studying, not chanting and looting
