The Johannesburg Hennessy Artistry party took place at one of my favourite venues, The Venue in Melrose Arch this past Saturday. With the line up they had set up, one expected fireworks and got just that. MC for the Loyiso Gola was not at his usual best but his outfit brought a few chuckles to the rather boring and reserved crowd. First on stage was Zama Jobe, the talented song bird did not disappoint with her performance but still the crowd gazed at her as if they were attending a Church service. Read more after the jump: I had never heard of the band name Good Luck prior to Saturday. I had however heard their music and I must say, they are very creative and they certainly managed to capture the attention in the room while doing their thing. Proverb came on stage and threw in a couple of songs to get the rigid crowd going before Liquid Deep came on stage. Red pants seem to be the "in" thing but it’s their music that brightened up the room.

The crowd seemed to get closer to the stage and started to sing along to the beautiful music this house band was performing. My highlight was when Zama back came on stage to perform the RnB version of their hit track “Fairytale” with Ziyon.
Teargas was followed on stage and boy did they tear the place apart. They had ladies screaming at them but I am almost sure it wasn’t for Ntukza ka mkhaba wam’ hlaba (BIG TUMMY). I strongly recommend a bigger t-shirt as a friend mentioned or a gym membership. If I wasn’t broke, I would sponsor one. Not liked by all, “Mhlobo wami” is a hit according to me. They performed it with passion and most were tipsy enough to sing along and do the dance routine. JR came on stage, “rocked” but his MIC was just too low for my liking. I wonder if he picks his own outfits out, I liked what he wore except the shoes but he can certainly has a good sense of style when he wants to.

A draw for a trip to New York VIP style was held for those with deep pockets that bought a bottle of Hennessy on the night. Some guy ka mkhaba wa hennssey from Tsakane won. I had to leave the party when Christos and Vinny Da Vinci, the legends of the dance floor came through. My body couldn’t take it and that had nothing to do with the alcohol levels in my body. A night as sweet as the Passion Fruit and Lemonade I had, the art of blending.
