New Breakfast show on SABC 3

SABC3 has a new breakfast show ! The show starts on October 4th, from 5.30 to 7.30am and will broadcast live from a penthouse apartment in Sea Point, which has panoramic views of Table Mountain and the ocean. This context will allow the cameras and presenters to move fluidly from place to place, avoiding the typical studio format, ensuring energetic performances and optimum attention. The presenters Liezel van der Westhuizen, Katlego Maboe and fitness guru Ewan Strydom will steer the show through a myriad of fun, informative and interactive segments. As well as soft news and weather, the show will include kids' entertainment and green awareness, on-trend fashion and beauty advice, comedy, interviews with celebrities, live gigs from SA's top bands, and the latest from the worlds of blogging, gaming and gadgets. Doctors, opinionated journalists, chefs, sport fanatics, stylists and "techies" will form the show's expert presenter pool. Their informative and witty conversation will allow a casual atmosphere and always err on the fun side. The content will contain something for every age group and the bilingual aspect will ensure that more people can enjoy what the show has to offer.

Here is what the press release has top say about the show: Our morning show will be unlike any show in the genre. It will present itself in an approachable, stylish manner which, will do away with the cliched studio structure of past morning shows. The segments will run into one another fluidly, allowing the presenters and crew to walk around the studio freely. It will always err on the fun side with live gigs, celebrity guests, latest technologies, fashion and comedians, as well as soft news, sport, finance, health and weather updates. We will keep going back to certain guests and segments (e.g. fitness and chef) to create a casual atmosphere. The following is a run down of our first show, which should give some idea of how the structure will work.

The first show kicks off with hosts Liezel and Katlego welcoming us and introducing the line-up highlights. We get the weather, traffic and light news before we head over to our resident fitness guru, Ewan, who will put us to the test with his boot-camp style exercises. Each day Ewan will focus on a different exercise, which will include yoga on a Friday with Cape Town's premier yoga instructor Kate Ball, who won't make things easy for Ewan. Our panel of witty, opinionated journalists and media experts will discuss the morning's headlines from local newspapers. We'll check back on Ewan and the weather, traffic and flight information. Our sport presenters will highlight the biggest events and issues in the world of sport in a lighthearted, approachable style.

Liezel will introduce our chef of the day, Jenny “Giggling Gourmet” Morris, who will cook an awesome breakfast throughout the show and will be tasted by the presenters, celebrity guests and crew towards the end of the show. Liezel will the hook up with our technology expert who'll show us the latest gadgets, groundbreaking websites, social networking info and controversial blogs. The Kid/ Youth slot will include game reviews, cooking, movie reviews and green living tips. Our presenters will then interview the interesting person of the day, Elise Fernandes, who beat breast cancer and went on to become Halle Berry's stunt double in Halle's latest movie filmed in SA. This will be particularly relevant as October is Breast Cancer Month. We'll move over to our financial guru who will break down the manic stock market for us, as well as giving us money-handling and safety tips.

Our daily comedy slot will see the country's biggest comedians strut their stuff on stage, performing bits of their stand-up routines or scenes from the plays are performing in. Dr Michael Mol will answer viewer's questions as they call in with health problems in our Health slot. We'll check back on our chef as she begins to create their next dish before we get handy DIY tips for the home and garden. Next up, we'll get the low down on all things Hollywood from You Magazine gossip columnist Este, who will bring us up to date with the salacious world of celebrity. We'll interview “zef” superstar Jack Parrow, about his meteoric rise to fame and his upcoming American tour. We'll meet our fabulous make-up artist, hair stylist and fashion stylist (each day we'll get a different stylist from leading fashion magazines like Glamour and Marie Claire, as well as their on-trend interns). Our show will close with a bang, as Jack Parrow takes to the stage to perform his hits “Jy Dink Jy's Cooler as Ekke” and “Miss”.
